a few touches of Christmas...

maybe if you all comment on how hideous my orange brick fireplace is, my husband will let me paint it....?

I have a 3x3 canvas art here...the colors don't go with my Christmas theme, so I covered it with piano rolls

yes, that's my still naked tree in the mirror...

really bad lighting...the wall color is actually a grey/brown

sewed some little sweaters for my candles...

same deal...poor lighting, gloomy BC day, lame camera....therefore more bad pictures.
I actually had this post ready to go last week, but my computer was taken over by aliens so....
I went to Seattle to check out 2nd Saturdayz and finish my Christmas shopping instead!
Hope you had a great weekend...

laundry room makeover....

the laundry room was the only room in the house that we hadn't really touched since we moved in...

I just couldn't handle that awful blue any longer...

I removed a built-in ironing board cupboard that just wasn't working for me....
After...
we added a drying bar to hang clothes up that don't go in the dryer...
covered the hole in the wall with barn board and a locker...
the cat enjoys eating here much better now...
the whole room is trimmed out with old barn boards...thanks DAD!
painted & distressed the pine hook shelf...
I took the closet doors off and added curtains...
We used galvanized plumbing pipes and fittings for the curtain rods and drying bar...
added a 'trough' for laundry soap...
now we each have a spot for misc, gloves, bags, hats, etc...
I've been looking for a wire laundry hamper for years...
metal cubbies for cleaning supplies, clothespins, tips for the laundry queen...
I made hooks out of old hinges to hang keys...

So there you have it... a long overdue laundry room spruce up.
It was really cheap too- I used paint & accessories I already had ...just had to buy the curtains & pipes.
It is so functional now, and works really well for our family.

Thanks for stopping by...
...don't forget to enter the 2nd salvage giveaway to be drawn on Wednesday.
