the girls...

 Lily...she's the first one to check out the treat basket every morning- blueberries are her favorite

Daisy...ah, Daisy- she's our special girl...does laps around the water jug all day...such a sweet girl
Lily and Daisy are the best of friends...where you find one, you find the other...

 Henrietta...she's the shy, petite blonde of the bunch, but every now and then she likes to snuggle

 Adele...she's a silly girl and doesn't like to be picked up... but loves her spinach!

 Alice...fluffy, sweet Alice...quiet and interested in everything you do

 Mabel...big Mabel...always digging holes and burying herself in the dirt

And where's Amigo?  In her usual position, perched on my shoulder... Amigo loves to be carried around and is always jumping on your back, lap, head....

the coop is coming along...
it still needs some finishing touches, but the girls love their new home...
it will be another month or so before we get any eggs...can't wait!

...homemade laundry soap

I've been making my own laundry soap for a few years now, so I thought I would share it with you...

We all have to do laundry, so why not make it more enjoyable?

Making your own soap is super easy, economical, and better for the environment...less packaging and no fillers.

I've tried a few different essential oils for scent...lavender and lemon are my favorite.

Here's what you need:

4 cups washing soda
3 cups borax
2 bars pure soap- grated
1/2 bottle lemon essential oil

When I make lemon, I use sunlight soap- it has a fresh, lemony scent and it's yellow, so it looks pretty
You can vary the amount of oil you use, depending on personal preference

When I make lavender, I use white pure soap ivory- its look and smell suits the lavender better

mix everything up in a big 'ol bucket...

put it in a pretty jar and bring a little freshness and joy to laundry day.

**use 1/4 c. of soap per load
